Since July 24, 2026, the country layer of US tariffs comes from one source: a Section 301 action covering 60 economies, published by the US Trade Representative on July 28, 2026, and written into headings 9903.05.20 to 9903.05.84. It replaced an earlier country system. The reciprocal duties under emergency powers were ended by an executive order of February 2026, and a temporary 10 percent surcharge under Section 122 expired on July 23. Under the new action, 10% applies to a first group, such as Mexico, Canada, India and the United Kingdom, and 12.5% to a larger group, including China and Vietnam. The European Union and Taiwan get a total of 10%, and Japan, South Korea and Switzerland a total of 12.5%, which already counts ordinary duty. Read at the source on November 2, 2026. The tool shows what that means for your product.

Brazil has a second layer
Brazil also pays a separate Section 301 duty, published in July 2026, of 25% under heading 9903.05.01, with exemptions in U.S. note 50 that we did not extract. So its figures here can run high for exempt goods.
What removes the country layer
Note 52(b) lists 863 codes exempt for all, such as many telecom and food lines. Note 52(j) adds lists per country: United Kingdom (49), European Union (43), Switzerland (134), Malaysia (101), Cambodia (154), Guatemala (109), El Salvador (98), Argentina (90), Bangladesh (85), Taiwan (114), Indonesia (147), Ecuador (150), Jordan (1887) codes in the release we read. Goods under the steel, aluminum and copper duties, autos, wood, trucks and semiconductors under Section 232 stay out. So do chapter 98 goods, with limits. Antidumping and countervailing orders continue regardless. The Section 301 page covers the note in more detail.
