Editorial and corrections policy

Importers read these pages to price a shipment before it sails. A wrong rate can cost real money, so each one points back to the official text it was read in, with the day it was read.

Who is responsible

Radif Partners, reachable at contact@usdutycalc.com.

What we read

  • the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, from the files of the US International Trade Commission;
  • proclamations, executive orders and notices in the Federal Register;
  • the Code of Federal Regulations on govinfo.gov;
  • for pallet measures, the sheet published by the pallet association.

Sources we refuse

Forwarders’ blogs, tariff trackers, forums and news stories never supply a figure here, even when they are right; they can only point us to a text to read. When a source cannot be opened by our reader, the page says not verified. We read under a declared name, and a site that refuses it stays not verified. Our method page reports the early requests that did not meet this rule.

Not customs advice

We describe what the texts say and apply their numbers to the figures you enter. We do not classify goods or say what you owe: US Customs and Border Protection decides that, and a licensed broker can act for you.

Review

Updates are manual. We promise no frequency: each page gives the release of the schedule it uses and the date of reading, and you should check that date against the current release before you commit to a price.

Corrections

  1. We open the official text again.
  2. We correct the data file and its date of reading, and add a test when the calculation is involved.
  3. The site rebuilds and every page shows the new date.

Independence

No agency, carrier, broker or forwarder pays for or reviews what is published here. See also the method page. Version of .
